The web as of today is primarily based on the "browsing paradigm" and as such it is very difficult to do something "intelligent" with it. As such there is an urgent need to convert this plethora of information into a format that can be queried on, and the information thus collected be used effectively.
This summarizes what my research interest is. To achieve something substantial in this, we need the integration of AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques and Databases. I think that the Semantic Web is a great vision as it sees the integration of all these techniques.
I worked as Research Assistant at Information Sciences Institute (ISI) in the Info-Agents group. I am did thesis work on improving the accuracy of geocoded data by applying Information Integration techniques.
I have worked on a research project for 1 year at BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Center) located in Bombay, India on the delevopment of a tool that created a Neural Network and provided simulation and the GUI to train it and use it over and over.
I also wrote a FAX operator for Theseus. Theseus provides an expressive and efficient language for Information Gathering on the Web.
